Options Attends AdventConnect 2015

Last week, we attended the AdventConnect conference in the so called ‘Sin City’, Las Vegas. Advent’s annual U.S. conference attracts around 1,000 delegates, all of whom are there to learn about the latest technology and hottest industry trends, while of course connecting with influential decision makers from all segments of the investment management industry.

Given the recent acquisition of Advent by SS&C, it was great to hear more about Advent’s latest products and innovations, and, in particular, what’s planned from both companies as they enter this new chapter. It was also fantastic to see the continuation of the Connect conferences with the next one confirmed for San Diego in September 2016.

In light of this, here’s three reasons why Options will be back next year:

1. Exhibition Opportunities:

We attended as an exhibitor, which was great exposure as all delegates entered the main exhibition hall after registration, during all breaks and during one-to-one sessions with the Advent Black Diamond team. We found there was plenty of opportunity to promote Options’ line of managed products and services, and of course give away our shiny new product overview (available here).

We also managed to bag ourselves a prime location just at the entrance to the room, however clever layout of all exhibitors made it easy for delegates to visit each stand while passing through to attend the sessions.

2. Breakout Sessions:

With a packed agenda including keynote speakers, breakout sessions, labs and roundtables, there really was something to cater for everyone in the industry. We particularly enjoyed the session taken by Focus 1 Associate′s Tim Simons titled ‘IT Security to Combat Today’s Cyber Fraud’, given Options’ continued efforts and investment in our infrastructure to meet the ever-increasing cybersecurity demands of our clients. (Download our latest cybersecurity whitepaper here).

Equally as interesting was the keynote from Advent’s CEO Pete Hess,  who discussed the ‘aggressive growth charter’ that the SS&C acquisition will herald for Advent. Pete was later joined by Advent founder Stephanie DiMarco and SS&C leadership for an open Q&A session (see below).

3. Networking:

Finally, the conference provided ample networking opportunities, even down to the name badges which were embedded with QR codes for scanning and obtaining delegate contact details. It was also great to take part in the ‘Build-A-Bike’ challenge in which clients, Advent employees and event sponsors worked together to build 150 bikes for Together We Rise – a charity that helps local foster children. And of course, let’s not forget the packed evening agenda which included an impressive client appreciation party in the Wynn’s XS Nightclub on Tuesday evening – need we say more?

So a big thank you to Advent for an invaluable week of learning, connecting and networking and here’s to San Diego 2016!
